Since 1950, the SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings), formerly known as the Steel Structures Painting Council, has issued specifications for coatings that have performed well in actual usage. When these Paint specifications are used in conjunction with SSPC Standards for surface preparation, paint application and thickness measurement, they provide complete Paint Systems for most steel, concrete and other marine and industrial structures.
The SSPC revises or issues new paint specifications to remain current with industry technology and new construction materials. As new specifications evolve, older ones become inactive. These inactive specifications are still used in many instances and Tamco Finishes continues to manufacture these items for a wide customer base.
